3 stars – I liked it

This was a short introduction to this world of Mythos Academy. Gwen Frost is a high school student who can read memories from objects. She has used this to find her classmates’ lost items but when she touches her friend’s hairbrush she sees a horrible trauma and her world changes forever.

This was a very interesting introduction. I like Gwen so far. She saw a truly horrible thing with her ability and used it to help that student out. She seems to be a very strong young woman who is struggling to find her place, especially with her magic.

We get a brief glimpse of what Mythos Academy will be like at the end of this story. It seems like a very interesting school and I really can’t wait to learn more about it. I believe this is also in the same universe as Estep’s Elemental Assassin and Bigtime series because there was a brief reference to Karma Girl. It will be interesting to see if there are any further hints to those series in the rest of the books.

Overall, I like Gwen so far and can’t wait to learn more about Mythos Academy.

Trigger Warnings: Mother killed in car crash. Friend raped by stepfather.
