2 stars – it was ok

When SWAT office Max Lowry meets Lana Mason at a police party, he falls fast and hard. He instantly knows she is a werewolf like him, but it seems like she doesn’t know she is one. While trying to figure out how to tell her, they also have to deal with hunters and Lana’s protective father.

This was ok. I found myself skimming a lot of Max and Lana’s story because I just never really connected to them as a couple. While this was a fated mates/instant love story, I really wanted more romance and connection between them but it was lacking, at least for me. I feel like a lot of the couples in this series have such similar romances that they kind of have gotten boring.

The overarching story with the hunters was interesting though and kept me reading. They are getting more reckless now and the SWAT men are making some headway in trying to find them. I will be very interested in seeing how they deal with the hunters in the end.

This is a very unique werewolf world and I like the whole concept of it, but like I said above, the romance sometimes falls flat. This one I enjoyed the overall hunter plot but not so much the couple. I will read the next book though because I am interested in finding out more about one of the characters who was injured in this book.

Trigger warnings: Domestic violence, death of a sibling by parent, child abuse, suicide, poisoning
