Finally! Vlad’s story. I have been eagerly waiting to get to this series since I started rereading the Night Huntress series. Vlad is my favorite side character and I love seeing him slowly fall in love again.
Leila is a strong woman who survived a childhood accident that left her with the ability to electrocute anyone she touches. She also has the ability to read the past and present from touching an object. She uses her ability to see into the past to connect with Vlad after she was kidnapped by vampires. Leila was wonderful! She was spunky and never let Vlad walk over her. She constantly stood up to him and did her own thing. I loved watching her go toe to toe with him and win.
Vlad is the dangerous vampire he has always been but we finally get to see more of why he is the way he is. His past has taught him to strike first and to not let anyone in. But Lelia doesn’t let him keep walls up. She barges into his life and is determined to make him admit his feelings.
I enjoyed the plot for this book quite a lot. It wasn’t super original but it was still well done and enjoyable. It will be interesting to see if Vlad’s enemy will reappear or if this was the end of it. Also, I enjoyed meeting more of Vlad’s people and getting to know them.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what is going to happen next for Vlad and Leila. I love these spin-off series and can’t get enough of them.
