5 stars – I loved it!

Wow, what a whirlwind of a book. I am so glad that I decided to reread this series. I forgot how much I love Cat and Bones, and all of the side characters.

A lot happens in this book. An ancient vampire named Gregor is claiming Cat is his wife and that she belongs to him. It caused a lot of strife for Cat and Bones’ marriage. They had some very tense and hurtful fights but it just shows them how much they love each other. I kind of hated Bones a little in this because of how he reacted to Gregor but I was glad when they worked through it.

“You’re right – we won’t change. I’ll always want to protect you, and I will get insanely brassed off when I can’t. You’ll always jump into the fire for me, no matter how much I want you to stay safe on the sidelines. We’ll have to constantly battle our own natures to make this work. Are you willing to take that chance?” – Bones

We also finally see Cat transition to full vampire, which brings some new surprises. I knew it was bound to happen eventually and I think this was a good time for it, especially with this intense battle with Gregor taking place. The battle was very interesting and also a bit heartbreaking. There were some heavy losses that happened. I was very happy with how the battle between Bones and Gregor ended because I did not like Gregor.

The friendship between Cat and Vlad really blossomed in this one. They bonded over their shared loneliness and heartbreak. I really love Vlad and can’t wait to reread his series because he really needs some love. Also, Mencheres shows his ruthless side in this but also that he has a bit of humor hidden in there. I also can’t wait to get to his books.

“Hey, Walks Like An Egyptian, how about for once you drop the formal stuff and talk like you live in the twenty-first century?” “The shit’s gonna splatter, start buggin’, yo,” Mencheres responded instantly. I stared at him, then burst out laughing”

Overall, this was a great addition to the series. I am loving all these crazy adventures Bones and Cat have. I can’t wait to see what they will do next.
