5 out of 5 stars
5 stars – I loved it!

FYI there have been some slight changes in the details of this story compared to the original. The author updated the technology to fit more modern times, like Bones doesn’t have a beeper for the panic alert button and Cat now has a cell phone, which she doesn’t have in the original.

While Bones was a huge part of the first book, we never got his POV on the events that happened. This book changes that. Bones finally gets to tell his story of falling in love with Cat and how he slowly helped her overcome her prejudice of vampires.

I actually enjoyed this book more than I did the original. Bones is a snarky, devious, and wonderful character and I loved seeing these events from his POV. He falls for Cat almost instantly but slowly works at building her trust and overcoming her prejudices so she can see the real him. One of my issues with the original was that I got a bit annoyed by Cat’s constant prejudice towards vampires, and while it is still present during this book, it’s not as obsessive since we don’t get her thoughts.

This book also gives us a lot of the story that we don’t get to see in the original, like his tracking of Cat in the very beginning and the fight at the end with Switch. It was just great getting these extra details of what is going on while Cat is away at school or with her family. We also get to see his anguish at being left by Cat and how it just makes him even more determined to find her, which the epilogue shows.

Overall, this was a wonderful addition to the series and just makes me want more stories from Bones POV. While Cat is definitely one of my favorite heroines, Bones is definitely my favorite character in this series and I just can’t get enough of his snarky charm.

Trigger Warnings: human trafficking, kidnapping, date rape drugs, toxic mother
