3 stars – I liked it

The Dallas SWAT team is hiding a huge secret and journalist Mackenzie Stone is determined to uncover it. What she doesn’t expect is to find herself falling for the team’s commander Gage Dixon, or be pulled into danger.

This was an interesting concept. I enjoyed the idea of a SWAT team made up of werewolves who are hiding in plain sight. This version of werewolves were also very interesting as well since they were not natural or turned by another wolf. It’s caused by a change in the DNA after sustaining injuries, which is a very unique and interesting way to create werewolves.

Gage and Mackenzie’s relationship is a fated mates one but it wasn’t instantaneous love. They get to know each other over time but the attraction is there from the very beginning. I liked both Gage and Mackenzie. Gage is a great SWAT leader and alpha for the pack. He does everything he can to protect their secret. Mackenzie is a very driven woman who likes rooting out the truth. She does make some mistakes and almost ruins everything for the guys but she quickly smartens up.

Overall, this was a great paranormal romance with some action packed scenes. I enjoyed this take on werewolves and look forward to learning more about the rest of the team.
