3 stars – I liked it

Cullen is spending some time in the dragon realm to help try and find the evil targeting the dragons. What he doesn’t expect is to find a beautiful woman running from soldiers with a child, or for him to instantly be attracted to her.

Cullen and Tamlyn’s story was fast paced and emotional. Tamlyn is a very interesting magical woman. I won’t say what she is because I feel that would be a spoiler but it was something that I never considered in this world. This dragon realm keeps surprising me with the people and magic in it. I really liked how protective Tamlyn was of the children she rescues and her two friends.

Cullen is a protective alpha male who refuses to do nothing when he realizes kids are in danger. I liked him, especially since he was willing to go against orders to do the right thing. I enjoyed Tamlyn and Cullen’s relationship a lot. This is a fated mate’s romance but they still took their time to get to know each other, in between a dangerous rescue mission.

Overall, this was a great novella for the series. It brought about new information about the danger that threatens the dragons and concerns about the magic wielding humans. Also, new kinds of magical humans and creatures, which is always a plus.

Trigger Warnings: death of children
