5 stars – I loved it!

After the last few weeks with all the lowlifes in Ashland gunning for her, Gin decides she really needs a vacation. She heads to Blue Marsh where Bria grew up for some sun and sand. Unfortunately, they find that things are not the same in this beach town and Bria’s friend is in trouble.

This was a very emotional and action packed vacation for Gin. Her and Bria’s relationship has not been the same since she was captured by Mab. While the vacation starts out rocky for them, they do finally have a heart to heart and open up to each other. I am so glad that Gin is finally opening up to Bria and sharing her fears with her. I can’t wait to see how their relationship will grow in future books.

This book also brought back Donovan Cain. He is still a self-righteous cop who disagrees with everything that Gin is but he still makes a play for her. I thought I couldn’t hate him more after he left Gin but this book brought out a whole new hatred for him. He definitely is one of those guys who don’t appreciate the people they have but as soon as someone else makes a move they get territorial and try to win the person back. I hate those kinds of people.

Gin has to fight an old vampire in this book. He was a very interesting enemy who really deserved to die.  It was a very dangerous fight with Gin realizing that there are a lot more dangerous people who are on the level of Mab are out there. Also the pacing for this book was wonderful and kept me addicted. I almost read this in one straight shot.

I am really interested in this new direction that the series is going in now that Mab is gone. I can’t wait to see how it progresses and what new case she will take next.
