This book starts three weeks after Dex and Dakota spend their first day together. Dex is in a dangerous position with the casino owners and doesn’t want her caught up in it. Unfortunately that plan fails and she finds herself in danger. Dex was a protective panther shifter who just wanted to take his money and leave but the situation prevented it. I liked that he looked out for his friends, especially the shifters who weren’t predators.
Dakota was a former stunt double and was one badass lady! I loved her. She didn’t flinch at the danger and actually went out of her way to help others, which was wonderful. Also, she really handled finding out about the supernatural world really well and I liked that. Dakota was my favorite heroine from this series and I would love to see more of her in the future.
Overall, this was a great couple and a good ending to the evil vampire casino. I enjoyed seeing all the different shifters in this world, especially since there was such a wide variety. I look forward to more books in this series or a spin-off series if possible.
