Dragon Actually: 5 stars – I loved it!

Annwyl the Bloody is fighting her brother’s troops when she gets mortally wounded. Knowing that this is the end she decides to take as many as she can with her but some unexpected help arrives, a dragon. Fearghus the Destroyer enjoys the quiet life but when he steps in to help save Annwyl he realizes nothing will ever be the same again.

I loved these two. Annwyl is a crazy woman who goes into berserker-like rages, which is how she earned the name Annwyl the Bloody. I adored her! She was fierce, sassy, and wasn’t afraid to stand up to Fearghus or anyone else. Also I love how when she isn’t fighting she just wants to read.

“He never tried to tame her. He loved everything about her, including her rage, and he never tried to change it or make it go away. Fearghus embraced it as he embraced all of her.”

Fearghus is the perfect person for Annwyl. He actually sees her and doesn’t ever try to change her. Her anger and strength turns him on. I loved how he took care of her and their quiet times at the end of the day talking. My only issue with him was that he was too concerned with appearances towards the end and it kept them apart for too long.

These two are my favorite couple out of this series and I can’t wait to see more of them in future books. Especially Annwyl because you never know how she is going to react to things.

Chains & Flames: 4 stars – It was really good

Rhiannon the White is ordered by her mother, the Queen, to mate with Bercelak the Great. Rhiannon knows that this is most likely a plot for her mother to get rid of her or kill her.

These two are an interesting couple. They started as enemies but Bercelak quickly changed her mind. Rhiannon starts as an annoying royal who looks down on others but you quickly realize its mostly a front to keep others away. She is a very strong dragon but is also emotionally fragile. She never had a supportive mother so she struggles with showing her emotions.

Bercelak is the bossy and demanding Cadwaldr. He is one of the queen’s best warriors and is covered in scars to prove it. You quickly realize though that Bercelak’s drive to defeat everyone was just to prove that he can take care of Rhiannon. Bercelak is a war machine but with Rhiannon he learns to laugh and be happy. Also, wasn’t expecting Bercelak to have such a dominating personality or to be partial to chains.

Overall, I love that we actually got their mating story. They are a powerful couple who will rule the dragons for a long time.
