This audiobook contains adaptations from volumes 4-6 of The Sandman comics.
This was another enjoyable adaptation of this series. I really enjoyed the comics and the first audiobook so I was very happy to finally get my hands on this volume. The voice actors they chose for each character were wonderful and they really brought these characters to life, especially James McAvoy as Morpheus.
These three volumes are tales that deal with people’s consequences. In Season of Mists, Morpheus has to deal with the consequences of his past and deal with Hell. Fables & Reflections and A Game of You, various people are dealing with the consequences of their actions and Morpheus has to step in to deal with them. My favorite story was about Joshua Abraham Norton.
When I originally read the comics volume 5, A Game of You, was my least favorite. I found it boring and I didn’t love the art style. In audio though, I actually enjoyed the story of Barbie and her dream world.
Overall, this was another great adaptation. I am really looking forward to Act III because the audio version really brings to life the characters and emotions.
Trigger warnings:
- Rape, in Fables & Reflection, Distant Mirrors-August (Ep. 10)
- Misgendering and deadnaming of a side character by family in A Game of You
