Title: The Lady’s Champion
Author: Marie Lipscomb
Series: Hearts of Blackmere #1
Pages: 326

Lady Natalie Blackmere has dreamed of meeting the renowned champions of Aldland. What she doesn’t expect is to find herself fleeing from bandits with the legendary Brandon the Bear.
Well this was cute. Brandon the Bear was a giant teddy bear who is struggling with the fact that he isn’t a champion anymore. Brandon was a kind, protective man who is determined to do the right thing. I liked him from the very beginning and loved how sweet he was with Natalie. His struggle with body positivity was very emotional and just made me love him more.
Natalie was sweet and kind, but she was also naive. I liked her well enough but found her character a bit flat compared to Brandon. We barely get any details out of her and the focus is definitely more on Brandon. Hopefully, in the second book we see more development of her character and personality come through. I did really enjoy her determination to show Brandon that he could still be loved and appreciated with his current body.
I enjoyed the overall story plot, even if it wasn’t very original. But this was still a really enjoyable historical romance with a hero who was just adorable. Also this is a book had a very interesting lesbian side-couple that I really want to know more about.
