3 stars – I liked it

Breed vampire and former Hunter assassin Knox has closed off everyone from his life. He now drifts around the country with no destination in mind. On a snowy night he ends up in northern Maine and finds himself helping out local diner owner Lenora Calhoun, who happens to be a Breedmate.

Knox has lost the only woman he let himself care for and is now an angry and bitter vampire. He tries to keep Leni at arms length but things keep happening to keep them together. Knox was alpha all the way through but was surprisingly sweet with Leni and her nephew. They had a little bit of a slower relationship than previous couples, but I think it worked well for this story.

Leni was a sweet and compassionate woman who had a fascinating ability. She isn’t afraid to stand up to Knox, the Parrish’s or anyone else. I liked Leni and think she balanced Knox out. She was a wonderful aunt and mother to her nephew. Usually I don’t love romances with children in them but this one didn’t bother me.

Overall, this was a good addition to the Hunter Legacy series. I do wonder if we will ever see more about his brothers in Florida though.

Trigger Warnings: human trafficking, attempted kidnapping of a child
