“Just remember, there is no adventure without risk, no magic without payment, and no such thing as a boring journey with the right partner.”  – A Witch’s Handbook of Kisses and Curses.

Nola Leary would have been content to stay in Kilcairy, Ireland but the ghost of her grandmother is determined to send her one a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky to secure the family’s magical items for the next generation. Unfortunately, no one knows where the four items are and they only have until the solstice to locate them.

This was another hilarious and fun story set in Half-Moon Hollows. Nola is a nurse who has been tasked with finding the four elemental artifacts but it ends up being a much harder task than she was expecting. Nola was an interesting heroine. She was a witch but didn’t really use her gift for more than healing. She was surprisingly funny and I loved her relationships with previous characters like Jane and Dick.

Jed was also an interesting hero. He was a sexy man who struggled to cope with the curse that his family was under. His curse was fascinating and I love how unique it was. It definitely made for some interesting changes and I understood Nola’s concern about watching horror movies after they figured it out. Nola and Jed had a very fun relationship and I enjoyed the issues they faced.

The elemental storyline was interesting and I love that it brought her closer to Mr. Wainwright and her new friends. The ending was a little anticlimactic but I still enjoyed it. I think it just helps show how compassionate a woman she was and that she truly never wanted to hurt others, especially with magic. Overall, this was a fun story and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next in Half-Moon Hollow.
