4 stars – It was really good

Kera Watson never expected to die behind a coffee shop, especially not after two tours in Afghanistan, but she gets an unexpected second life from the Goddess Skuld. She is now a Crow but she is struggling to understand what that means.

This was a fascinating mythology focused world with some wonderful, crazy, and dangerous characters. Kera is given a second life as a Crow who lives to serve Skuld. As a Crow she finds herself with extreme strength, wings, and some crazy sisters. I love that we have shifters who don’t change completely, only the wings grow out their backs. I really loved Kera. She was strong, organized, and slightly crazy. Also her protectiveness of her dog Brodie was wonderful and I totally understood her treating her dog like it was her child.

Ludvig “Vig” Rundstrom is a Raven, which is another clan in this world. He was a giant protector with a heart of gold, which is just the kind of hero I adore. He helped Kera get all the changes happening in her life, like flying and battling to the death. Like I said, I adored him and think he was a great partner for Kera. These two were just a great couple with some great chemistry. I loved their banter, their support for each other’s crazy families, and their ability to work together in battle.

Overall, I found this whole world fascinating but there were times when it was slightly confusing. But I still really enjoyed it and Kera and Vig’s relationship. I can’t wait to read the next one and see what craziness is going to happen next.
