Genre: Fantasy Horror
Pages: 162

I have wanted to read this book since the movie came out years ago but for some reason I kept forgetting about it. Now after owning this book for three years, I have finally read it. This was a fascinating story about young Coraline and her adventures with the mysterious door in her house.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Coraline. She was smart, adventurous, and caring. She may not agree with some of her parents’ decisions and actions, but she still loved them and tried to save them. I just loved the idea of a door opening to an alternative family that isn’t what it seemed. I found her “Other Mother” to be quite disturbing, especially when it came to the beetle scene.
I think this story was just the right mix of fantasy and horror and is perfect for teens and adults alike. I am sad that it took me so long to read it, but I know it will be one I will read again in the future. Also I enjoyed the artwork that was in the book, it was creepy and perfect for the chapters.
