5 out of 5 stars
5 stars – I loved it!

Derek DiMarzio will do anything to help his team, including getting close to the enemy’s sister in the hopes of gaining information. What he doesn’t expect is to fall so hard or quickly to the beautiful Emilie Garza.

This book was nonstop action, new developments, and steamy romance. I have loved Marz since he was introduced and this book just made me love him more. Marz was a great hero. He was goofy, fun, protective, and a survivor. He may have lost his leg but he doesn’t let it hold him back, which I loved. We also see some mending of his and Beckett’s relationship. I can’t wait to get to his book because I know that he probably is very sweet under that gruff.

Emilie was a sweet and wonderful heroine who was perfect for Marz. She accepted all of him and helped him through some insecurities about his appearance and abilities. Emilie and Marz had such great chemistry and were just a great couple overall. They are my favorite from this series, outside of Becca and Nick.

A lot of the research that was done in previous books finally starts getting solved in this book. There are new developments as well but the team is coming closer to finding out what really happened in Afghanistan and who was behind it. Overall this was a wonderful couple and a wonderful continuation of the story.

Trigger Warnings:

  • References of the suicide of a patient.
  • References to kidnapping, gangs, human trafficking, and abuse
  • Sudden death of a side character from previous books.
