4 stars out of five
4 stars – It was really good

It’s been 20 years since First Dawn. Mira is now a lethal fighter of the Order and she is determined to get vengeance against the human rebels after they killed her first love.

I was a little apprehensive when I realized this series was getting a time jump and a whole new plot line but this was a great start. While there were quite a few new characters introduced in this first book the main focus is on Mira and Kellan, who were children in the previous books.

Mira has grown up to be a deadly warrior and she leads one of the Orders teams. Kellan is now a dangerous Breed warrior and while he has made some mistakes in his life, his intentions were pure. These two had a very emotional story that was filled with ups and downs.

For the overall plot, the humans and Breed have an uneasy truce. Unfortunately a new group has been revealed and their motives seem to be destroying the Breed. I won’t say any more than that because I don’t want to spoil anything but I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next.
