Revisiting My Winter TBR

In December, I posted a Top Ten Tuesday with a potential winter TBR that I wanted to read. I rarely stick to TBRs but I thought it would be fun to go back and see if I actually read the books I wanted.

So lets find out how I did on my winter TBR:

Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas

Read: No

Sadly, this one keep getting push aside for other books this winter. Its still on my kindle to read but I just keep getting distracted by other books.

Wild Sweet Love by Beverly Jenkins

This was a beautiful, slow building romance between Teresa July and Madison. I really love Beverly Jenkins books.

Burning the Books by Richard Ovenden

Burning the Books: A History of the Deliberate Destruction of Knowledge by Richard Ovenden

Read: Yes!!

3 stars - I liked it

An interesting book but written oddly. It takes you on a convoluted trail to get to the point of the chapters.

A Warm Heart in Winter by J.R. Ward

I actually haven’t gotten around to buying this one yet. I did preorder the upcoming release so I will be reading after its release date.

Meant to be Immortal by Lynsay Sands

Read: Yes!!

After 32 books, Sands is still writing great stories and characters. This is one of the very first paranormal series I ever read and I am glad that I am still reading it.

Lightning Game by Christine Feehan

A interesting couple. I liked them both but there hasn’t been any progress with the search for Whitney in the past few books and its getting annoying.

Do I have to wear black by Mortellus

Do I Have to Wear Black?: Rituals, Customs & Funerary Etiquette for Modern Pagans by Mortellus

Read: Yes!!

3 stars – I liked it

A very interesting and informative book. My only issue was the life casting part because they give incorrect directions, which I discuss in my review.

Monstress Book One by Marjorie Liu

A fascinating comic with some beautiful artwork.

The Butchering Art by Lindsey Fitzharris

The Butchering Art: Joseph Lister’s Quest to Transform the Grisly World of Victorian Medicine by Lindsey Fitzharris

Read: Yes!!

5 stars - I loved it!
5 stars – I loved it!

This was a fascinating look at the shocking world of 19th century medicine. Joseph Lister spent his life preaching antiseptics (sterilizing basically) and trying to convince other doctors to do the same.

Emerald Blaze by Illona Andrews

Read: No

I have decided I want to reread this series before starting this book, which is why it didn’t get read.

I can’t believe I actually stuck to my TBR this time. I only had three books that I haven’t read yet. I think I am going to keep doing these revisit post just to see if I actually do stick to a rough TBR or not. I always say I never stick to a TBR but maybe I was wrong.

Do you create TBRs or are you a mood reader?
