4 stars – It was really good

Winter elf Jayne Frost has been sent to Nocturne Falls to investigate the disappearance of employees at Santa’s Workshop. Her father, Jack Frost, and her uncle, Santa Claus, believe she can keep the investigation quiet and find out the truth.

I really enjoy this cozy mystery set in Nocturne Falls. While the Nocturne Falls series deals with different couples with every book, this series is just from Jayne’s perspective as she is solving cases.

Working in Santa’s Workshop is the first time Jayne gets a glimpse of what normal life is like. The glamor she is using hides her true face so no one knows she is the winter princess. While on the hunt for the truth of the missing employees Jayne makes new friends, runs into her ex-boyfriend, and goes on a few dates with the hot vampire, Greyson. I really enjoyed Jayne and her penchant for snooping.

While there are light hints of romance in this book, with Greyson and Cooper, the main focus is on Jayne searching for the missing employees.  Nocturne Falls is one of my favorite romances, but this change to cozy mystery actually worked really well in this setting. Also I loved the focus on friendship in this one, especially since it’s kind of new for Jayne.

Also, I love that she adopted a cat almost right away and that his name is Spider. It’s adorable.
