5 stars – I loved it!

After breaking from the Pack, Kate and Curran are adjusting to their new life. When the Pack offers them the Mercenary Guild, Curran jumps on the opportunity and is determined to make it better than ever. But first they have to deal with ghouls, a missing pack member, and giants.

This is definitely a changing point for the series. Kate and Curran are no on their own and have moved into a suburban neighborhood. We are finally seeing just Curran and Kate not the Beast Lord and Consort. I really like Curran without the politics of the Pack weighing him down. He is happier and has more of an attack first ask questions later kind of person.

I loved Kate. She will always be my favorite but in this one she isn’t so indestructible. She gets beat up pretty badly and it becomes pretty tense for a little bit. It was a bit of a wake up call for her that she isn’t invincible and needs to be more careful, especially since all of Atlanta is relying on her now.

The creatures in this one were very interesting. The ghouls and giants were quite fascinating in this one, as well as the creature creating them.  We also have another meeting with her father, who is trying to appear harmless but we know it’s an act. This was just another nonstop, action packed adventure for Kate and Curran.
