Webtoon Comics You Should Be Reading!

I have been reading comics through Webtoons for about a year now. It is a great platform filled with some amazing comics but there are a few that stand out.

I have linked the webtoon page for each of these if you are interested in reading them. A webtoon account is free and the app is very convenient. I have also listed genre, trope, blurb, and how many episodes there are currently so you know what you are getting into.

Lore Olympus by Rachel Smyth

Genre: Romance

Blub: Witness what the gods do…after dark. The friendships and the lies, the gossip and the wild parties, and of course, forbidden love. Because it turns out, the gods aren’t so different from us after all, especially when it comes to their problems. Stylish and immersive, this is one of mythology’s greatest stories — The Taking of Persephone — as it’s never been told before.

Episodes: 129

This comic is very popular and very good. I adore Hades and Persephone. It kills me that I have to wait a week to find out what is going to happen next between these two because its so good. Also the artwork is absolutely beautiful. Season two started about a month ago so its a perfect time to binge read what is available.

TW: Rape, PTSD

SubZero by Junepurr

Genre: Romance
Trope: arranged marriage; enemies to lovers

Blurb: What would you sacrifice to save your family? How far would you go to protect your people? For Clove, the last princess of a near-extinct Dragon clan, the answer is the unthinkable: MARRY your greatest sworn enemy in an effort to bring peace to your land.

Episodes: 90 (which is the end of season 1)

This is a arranged marriage between a Prince and a Princess of two kingdoms that have been at war for hundreds of years. Oh and they also have ancient dragons inside them and can shift. I am loving Clove and Kyro! They have a very rough start to their marriage but they slowly are starting to trust and love each other.

The Wrath & the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh and SilvesterVitale

Genre: Fantasy
Trope: arranged marriage; enemies to lovers

Blurb: Khalid, the Caliph, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. However, Shahrzad has a clever plan – not only to stay alive – but to end the murderous King’s reign of terror once and for all. (A reimagining of 1001 Nights based on the YA novel by Renee Ahdieh.)

Episodes: 55

This is a beautiful retelling of 1001 nights. It is another arranged marriage/enemies to lovers comic. A lot has happened in the 55 episodes currently available and I can’t wait to find out what will happen next.

Also I just found out today that this comic is taken from an actual novel! I now plan to read it!

Midnight Poppy Land by Lilydusk

Genre: Romance

Blurb: After making a grisly discovery in the countryside, a small town book editor’s life gets entangled with a young Mafia lord and his intimidating bodyguard…even as every step she takes draws her deeper into the dangerous underworld of the city.

Episodes: 51

Torra and Poppy! I love these two. They both are attracted to each other but won’t take the relationship further because he is in the Mafia. The scenes between these two are intense and I can’t wait for them to give in to their feelings.

The Witch and the Bull by Moonsia

Genre: Fantasy

Blurb: Tan’s job as the King’s royal advisor has nothing to do with his hatred for witches, but it does make him a prime target for a curse that turns him into a BULL! The only way to undo this hex is to rely on the beautiful witch, Aro. Can her kindness turn his feelings around, and break this spell?

Episodes: 30

This is a beautiful story with beautiful artwork. A witch and the kings advisor go on an adventure and learn that they don’t have a reason to hate each other. Season one finished a month or so ago and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen in season 2.

My Giant Nerd Boyfriend by fishball

Genre: Slice-of-life

Blurb: Having a boyfriend who’s a full foot taller than you might seem adorable at first, but it usually just ends up causing a whole bunch of minor inconveniences. Follow Fishball as she navigates the Malaysian life with her 6’5″ geeky boyfriend.

Episodes: 513 (three times a week)

This is the only slice of life comic that I read. There are a lot of episodes but they are very short and its easy to breeze through them. I really enjoy Fishball and her adventures with her boyfriend and family. They are very relatable and heartwarming.

Suitor Armor by Purpah

Genre: Fantasy

Blurb: Lady-in-waiting, Lucia believes getting through the royal wedding will be the toughest part of her new life. That is until she finds herself falling head over heels with Modeus, an up-and-coming knight to the king’s guard. With her newfound interest, she is quickly awakened to the mysteries of the kingdom when she learns Modeus is in fact an enchanted suit of armor without a soul. Could there be more to him than just shining armor?

Episodes: 10

This comic came out in September but is already very popular. This is a world with humans, magic, and faeries. The two are enemies. Lucia is a lady in waiting who has been hiding her true nature. You could feel Lucia and Modeus connect the instant they met. It doesn’t matter that he is a suit of armor either, he still portrays a lot of feeling. I can’t wait to see where this series goes.

Atnomen by ilustrAriane

Genre: Fantasy Romance

Blurb: After her father died, Lena was left all alone in a men’s world, suffering at the hands of an abusive church Minister. Then, one day, her life was saved by a very familiar Demon…Or was her that saved him?

Episodes: 9

This is another new webcomic that instantly captured my attention. It’s a gargoyle romance basically. I love a good gargoyle story. Since there only a few episodes out currently we haven’t got the full story yet but it is still really good. This has beautiful artwork done exclusively in black, greys, and white.

Do you use webtoon? What is your favorite comic on there?
