Annalise Fallston spends her time painting and taking care of her ailing father. Lately she has been gripped by the urge to paint terrifying scenes and she doesn’t understand why, until Devlin steps into her life. Devlin Eston is the son of the evil Anemoi Eurus which makes him an outcast. He is determined to stop his father at any cost but he first must master his abilities, and Annalise seems to help with that.
This was an emotional ending for the Hearts of Anemoi series. I came so close to crying with this one. So be prepared with tissues. Also please refer to the trigger warnings.
Devlin has been mentioned in this series but we finally get his side of the story with this book. While the other Anemoi mistrust him, he is still determined to help them defeat his father. Devlin has had a terrible upbring and is scarred and traumatized from it. His past was truly heartbreaking. Annalise was perfect for him because she loved him for who he was and didn’t push when his PTSD would get in the way. She just worked with him and accepted him, which is just what he needed to heal.
Annalise was a great heroine. She was so compassionate and kind. She is taking care of her aligning father who has Alzheimer’s and iss dealing with her own disability of chronic fatigue. I found her monochromacy, a color blindness that makes everything black, white and grey, to be very interesting, especially since she is a painter.
Overall, this was an amazing ending with a perfect romance. I also really enjoyed seeing all the Anemoi working together for a change. It made the battle even more suspenseful and epic. The new Gods and Goddesses featured in this book were also a nice addition. I kinda want more books just with them now.
- Hero was abused by his father (frequently referenced)
- Parent with Alzheimer (on page)
- Graphic at risk pregnancy of a side character (For further information on this please look at the hidden spoiler on my Goodreads review.)
