This week’s topic is: Favorite Book Quotes
I have a lot of book quotes that I love. To make it easier to narrow it down to just 10, I focused only on quotes from books I have read in 2020.
“What ifs are fucking useless. We have to make the most of whatever life throws at us. Move forward.”
“Sentient beings are spectacular liars. We are gifted with an unparalleled ability to deny things that make our life unpleasant. We even pretend death isn’t a certainty, because contemplating our own mortality drives us mad.”
“Life is full of ups and downs, Toren. Challenges and triumphs. The struggle, being outside our comfort zone, that’s how we grow.”
“Life is too short to go around hating things I know nothing about. My ignorance doesn’t mean others should suffer.
“Damage meant nothing except that the person had lived life and taken a few knocks along the way.”
“People have the capacity for great kindness and mercy as well as ugliness. It depends on our hearts and where they are in that moment.”
“It’s peaceful. Death can be a release and a relief for the person, and that is a blessing. The thing is, a lot of times, it is work to die. It requires physical and emotional effort. What sucks is that for most, particularly if they’re dying out of sequence, it’s a job they don’t want. It’s about loss of control, loss of function, loss of identity and independence…loss of choice and decision, of family and friends. But if you can let go of all that, what comes with it is freedom. A soaring freedom, the soul released from its temporary prison of mortality.”
“World’s a fucked-up place these days, Ash. There’s not too much good left in it, so when you find some, you grab the fuck on and don’t let go. Don’t let anything get in the way of you taking a little piece of it and protecting it.”
“Love with the right person makes us stronger, not weaker.”
“Sometimes all you needed was the touch of the one you loved and the sound of their voice and the knowledge that you were home, and that was enough to drag you back from the brink.”
