“Belief can move mountains.”
Human Alliance leader Bowen Knight has come back from the dead. But the chip implanted into his brain to save him from Psy is now a ticking time bomb. With the help of BlackSea he undergoes an experimental and risky surgery to stop the chip from destroying his brain. What he doesn’t expect is to fall in love with a beautiful and hurt changeling.
Wow, does Singh really know how to write an emotional book. I was actually apprehensive about reading this book because I wasn’t a huge Bowen fan from the previous series. I didn’t hate him, mostly I was just indifferent about his character. This book changed everything though! I was surprised by how much I liked Bowen. Bowen is a true knight in all ways and everything you would want in a leader. He was willing to sacrifice everything, even his own life, if it meant saving other humans. I loved how even though he might die he made every moment count, especially those with Kaia.
Kaia was a truly bright soul. She cares for everyone and everyone loves her. As the cat’s put it, she is a maternal. She has a lot of mental scars and PTSD from her childhood though. It’s a struggle for her to put her heart on the line with Bo when she knows he might leave her at any moment. I really admire her. Life has really knocked her around but she still goes on and tries to make everyone happy, especially with good food. Also I just loved that she had a pet mouse. It was so cute and I want a mouse now.
What I truly loved about this book though was that it was BlackSea. They have been teased throughout the series but this is the first time we actually get a whole book dedicated to them. I loved how different they were from other changeling packs we have seen. I loved that the residents when shifted they would try to startle or spy on other people on the base.
This was a great addition to the series and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next, especially where the consortium is concerned.
