4 stars – It was really good

Ingrid Asher moves to Mystic Bayou to finally open her dream business, an ice-cream shop. It also helps that she doesn’t have to hide her nature. Unfortunately, she can’t keep her mind off the head of the League’s data science department, Rob Aspern.

I think this is my first tree nymph novel and I really enjoyed it. I found Ingrid fascinating and relatable. She has seen the worst of humanity and is scared from it. Rob brings her happiness but he also makes mistakes that shake their new relationship. Their relationship is very rocky for most of the book but it has a strong base. You know they will have a HEA but it will take a little bit to get there, which is perfect for me.

“But dating magie girls is like running a marathon through an obstacle course full of booby traps.” – Zed

Rob has appeared in previous books and is frequently called Dr. Ken Doll Assface by Zed. Rob also plays Magic the Gathering, which I loved. I really liked Rob. He was a sweet man who was always trying to be helpful, even when it ends up the opposite. There need to be more men like him in the world, smart, sweet and fun.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novella and I can’t wait to read the next book. Mystic Bayou is fascinating and I just love all the different paranormals who live there.
