Title: The Dark Wood Tarot
Author: Sasha Graham
Artist: Abigail Larson
Pages: 219

This tarot deck focuses on our darker side, our shadow self. The shadow self is the hidden and repressed parts of our personalities, desires and thoughts that we normally don’t acknowledge and repress. This beautiful deck comes with a 200+ book that helps you understand the shadow side and how to use it during your readings.
“The Shadow is needed now more than ever. We heal the world when we heal ourselves, and hope shines brightest when it illuminates the dark.”
This is my first shadow deck and I feel it will become an important part of self journey. Not only is the art captivating and beautifully dark but the meanings supplied within the text really make you consider the darker sides of yourself. The text tells the story of the shadow witch and how each interaction with the cards impacted her and how she grows from it. I really enjoyed the story aspect because it helped me see the correlation between the cards and the progression of what the cards were teaching me. Also I read this whole book before I worked with the cards because I wanted to make sure I understood what the cards meant and were telling me. I highly suggest you do the same.
The cards are on a thin but sturdy card stock. I prefer this type of cardstock because the cards are easier to shuffle and use, especially if you have smaller hands. I cannot say enough about how beautiful the cards are though. Abigail Larson did an amazing job with each card and even if I hadn’t connected with this deck I would have loved it for the artwork alone. Overall, I highly recommend this deck if you are interested in exploring your shadow self.
