5 stars – I loved it!

Miss Sara Fielding is in London to do research for her new book about gambling. She has been exploring the seedier sides of London to learn the vernacular and understand why people gamble. What she doesn’t expect is to have to save a man who is being beaten, and for him to be none other than the renowned owner of the gambling club Craven’s. In repayment for saving his life he lets her explore his club for research and talk to his staff.

This is my first Kleypas book and it was soooo good!! I didn’t want to put it down. Derek Craven was a wonderful, well rounded character that you can’t help but love. Derek is an unforgettable hero. He has had a very difficult past but that just made him more determined to achieve his dream. I loved watching him slowly fall in love with his little mouse. Derek is one of my new favorite heroes!

Sara Fielding is a unique woman of the times. She is a writer and makes her own money. She is independent, adventurous, and very curious. She may be worldly about some things in life but she was still very innocent and sheltered. I loved everything about her.

The romance between these two was slow but intense. You could feel the sparks flying from the beginning but Derek held himself back. Once he gives into his feelings though he loves her completely and fiercely. I couldn’t get enough of these two!

Overall, this was a wonderful wallflower historical and a great introduction to Kleypas’s books. I cannot wait to read more of her books, especially the wallflower series that I have heard so much about.
