Title: The Lightning Thief
Author: Rick Riordan
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians #1
Pages: 396

I have heard great things about this series since it came out but never felt like reading it. With all the recent hype towards the series, I decided to give the series a try. Surprisingly, I enjoyed this book.
Percy was a pretty good character. I liked his sarcasm and his negative feelings on the Olympians. Also he totally has the teenage recklessness that most kids have before they grow older and realize how fragile people are. I can definitely see why so many people love this series because Percy was very relatable, even with the mythology plot. Also, I really liked Annabeth and Grover. I loved how Grover was always eating random things.
I enjoyed the quest that they went on a lot. It was very interesting and action packed, which definitely made the story more fun. Also, I loved how it wasn’t all seriousness and had some normal teenage things, like shopping sprees. I can understand why this series is so popular now, especially if you read them as a young adult and grew up reading them. Overall, I love the mash of mythology and real life. I will be giving book two a try.
