2 stars – it was ok

This book was just ok for me. I don’t have any real strong emotions for the characters or for the storyline.

To start with Jo and Syn. I like Jo. She was a determined and independent woman who was just trying to seek the truth. I liked Syn as well. But their relationship was just ok. Their relationship lacked the emotion and feelings that most of the previous couples had. I probably won’t remember anything about this couple in the future and I am ok with that. I did enjoy watching Jo find her family though.

Butch and V are also the main focus of this book. We have seen that the end of the war has been coming about in the previous books. It ends in this book, which I wasn’t expecting. I thought there was going to be at least one more book before that. The conclusion to the war was very anticlimactic though. After 18 books I really thought the war would end with a bang but it did not.

Devina is from the Fallen Angel series, which I haven’t read since 2013 and barely remember. She tricks Butch and tries to seduce him in this book, which I hated. But overall, I just didn’t find her very interesting. I guess we will see how she is in future books.

Overall, this book was just ok. I spent most of it waiting for something big to happen and nothing did. I hope I like the next book more.
