Review: Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward

3 stars – I liked it

This is the 10th book of the series, and it is an emotional one. Tohrment has been struggling to live again after the death of his shellan and is on a deadline to let his grief go. He has to learn to let go of the past and move on with his life if he wants to give his beloved shellan true peace. I have liked Tohr since he was introduced and loved Wellsie. I was so upset when she died. This book worried me because I wasn’t sure if I wanted Tohr to have another shellan after Wellsie.

I have mixed feelings about Tohrment and Autumn (No’One). To start with I liked both of these characters and think they make a good couple. My problem is with how that relationship came about. Tohr is basically forced into a new relationship before he is ready in the hope that it will give Wellise true peace. Because of this I just felt bad for Autumn through most of the book. I felt she was getting used, especially since Tohr wouldn’t do normal relationship stuff with her like cuddle and talk. In the end it works out for them and we will just have to see how their relationship progresses in future books.

John and Xhex also have issues in this book. Not even mated for a week and they already are having issues. I really hated this part and wish Ward didn’t have so much conflict between couples. I want more HEA instead of HFN with the brothers. Xcor, leader of the Band of Bastards, is also featured a lot in this book. I didn’t like him much at first but he is growing on me. I want to see how his future is going to play out and I am sure it’s going to be an emotional one. Lassiter also really steps it up in this book and I can’t wait to see how he is going to play into the future story.
