5 out of 5 stars
5 stars – I loved it!

The seventh book in the BDB and it deals with Rhevenge. Rhevenge is a sympath and drug lord who rules with an iron fist. Life changes in a blink of an eye for him though when he meets Elhena, a nurse at Havers clinic.

I love Rhevenge and Elhena. Their relationship was cute, tense, and heartbreaking. I loved everything about this book which surprised me because he isn’t a brother. I also don’t remember this book at all so it was like reading it for the first time all over again. Elhena is probably one of my favorite females in this series. She is a survivor who is determined to help the world. She was also very courageous and brave.

“This was why people got mated, Rehv suddenly thought. Fuck the sex and the social position. If they were smart, they did it to make a house that had no walls and an invisible roof and a floor that no one could walk on and yet the structure was a shelter no storm could blow down, no match could torch up, no passage of years could degrade.”

This book also deals a lot with Wrath and Beth and John Mathew and Xhex. Wrath is struggling with his eyesight and still struggling with being king. Him and Beth are also having difficulties with their mating as well. Seeing these two struggle and work through it is so relatable.

“Payne nailing him in the face woke him up. George brought him back his independence. But Beth handed him his crown.”

As I said,  this book sets up the relationship between John Mathew and Xhex, which isn’t going well as you can imagine. John learns the truth about her being a sympath and things get tense after that. I don’t remember a lot about their relationship so I can’t wait to start the next book and see what happens, especially after this ending.

“Life is such a glorious trauma, is it not?” (Wrath)
