Title: Lover Eternal
Author: J.R. Ward
Series; Black Dagger Brotherhood #2

Rhage is a vampire with strong appetites who is cursed with a beast. Mary Luce is a survivor. She is unwillingly thrown into the vampire world when she comes across a mute boy, John Mathew. While she isn’t looking for love, there is something about the vampire Rhage that she can’t stop thinking about. She wants to be with him, even if she doesn’t have a lot of time left.
Rhage and Mary’s story is very different from Wrath and Bellas. Both of them have their own curses that get in the way of their life. Rhage with his ability to shift into a dragon (which I hate how long he keeps Mary in the dark about). Mary is a survivor of cancer but it’s back again and more aggressive. This isn’t a happy book really. Yes it’s got romance, but most of it is pretty depressing because Mary is slowly dying from Leukemia. So expect a tense and emotional book from this one. This definitely isn’t one of my favorites of this series. I love this couple in later books, but the heaviness of the situation in this book makes me not love it.
What I did love about this book was Zsadist and Bella. Those two are probably my favorite couple from the series. I also really like John Mathew. I know his story is going to be very emotional when we do get to it and I can’t wait.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I look forward to seeing more of Rhage and Mary (and the Beast) in the future books.
